Current Events

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has warned that climate change will not spare other countries the sort of disaster that left a third of the country underwater and millions of children at risk of water-borne diseases (Magramo and Register, 2022). Authorities have warned that it could take up to 6 months for the flood waters to recede in the areas that were hit the most. He told the United Nations General Assembly on Friday to come together and “act now” before it’s too late. During his speech, Sharif referred to the flood in Genesis chapter 11, saying, “For 40 days and 40 nights, a biblical flood poured down, smashing centuries of weather records, challenging everything we knew about disaster and how to manage it.”

Prayers

Father, we pray that You send help to the people of Pakistan in this time of hardship – send medical help, financial help, and nutritional help. Father, let this situation soften the hearts of Your people to be opened to the gospel in Jesus Christ name.
