  • On the  morning of November 20th, assailants with guns blazing attacked the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, Mali, which was hosting diplomats and others. The attack left at least 21 people dead, 6 injured, and trapped dozens in the building for hours. Al Mourabitoun, an Islamist militant group, claimed it was jointly responsible for the attack with al Qaeda.
  • Two bomb attacks in 24 hours — one of them involving an 11-year-old female bomber, the other was a 18-year-old female bomber — killed 46 people and wounded more than 200 others in the Nigerian cities of Yola and Kano on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, within 24 hours apart from each other. The attacks occurred in public marketplaces. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack however Boko Haram is the prime suspect
    • Boko Haram was responsible for 6,644 deaths in 2014, an increase of 317% from the previous year, according to the Global Terrorism Index, released Tuesday.
  • In a new video released on Friday, ISIS threatened to burn down the White House and promised the commander-in-chief more attacks across the world. In the video they said the following statement: “”We started with [France] and we shall finish with the false White House, which we shall render black with our fire,” one of the extremists said in the video.” In addition, they also implied an impending attack on Rome.
    • Another video released by ISIS on Thursday morning warns of an impending attack on New York City. The video mentions Times Square and purports to show an explosive device being put together and a bomber zipping his jacket over a suicide belt.
  • On November 18th, five Syrians trying to make their way to the United States using stolen Greek passports were arrested in Honduras. They were trying to make their way to northern Honduras to complete their journey to the U.S. by land, crossing Guatemala and Mexico to reach the southwest border of the U.S.
